My child does not qualify for speech at school, but I feel he/she still needs therapy. Can you help?
Yes, we can! School districts operate under different guidelines from private speech language pathologists. For a child to receive speech therapy in the public schools, a child’s communication deficits must fall within the specific criteria/guidelines established by the school district, state, and federal guidelines. If you feel that your child needs speech therapy, you have the right to pursue therapy from a speech language pathologist in private practice. We often work with children that have one or two sounds in error or dysfluencies that impact their speech, but does not qualify them for services from their school. Some parents choose private therapy, even if their child qualifies for school services to 1) compliment services at school; or 2) replace school services so that the child is not pulled out during their regular school day.
What are some signs of an articulation/ phonological disorder in my child?
- Difficult to understand
- omissions or substitutions of sounds
- tongue protrudes from between teeth for many sounds
- frontal and/or lateral lisps
- Difficulty producing consonant sounds such as: s, r, sh, th, and l
- Difficulty with consonant blends
- Shyness, fear of speaking, or frustration when not understood

We do not bill any insurance carriers. Documentation for insurance reimbursement will be provided monthly upon request. Please check with your insurance carrier to see if speech-language services are covered under your policy. Payment in full is due at time of service in the form of cash, check or credit card. Will my child’s speech or language delay cause difficulties with academics or social interactions?
Data indicates that children with speech and language delays are at risk for later learning and social deficits. An impairment in the areas of speech and language can have a detrimental effect on listening comprehension, reading and writing skills as well as overall communication confidence. It is also known to have a negative impact on self-esteem and relationship building. These are all factors that can be addressed with treatment.
